English Grammatical Terms
Letter J
(PG = Prescriptive Grammar — DG = Descriptive Grammar)
(GL = Grammatical Lingo — OB = Obtuse — NG = Not Grammatical)
- J, j — [PG] The Letter “J” Is The Tenth Letter Of The English Alphabet. It Is Also The Seventh Consonant In The English Alphabet.

- Jargon — [NG] The Term Jargon is not a Grammatical Term. It is Grammatical Lingo used to refer to Words, Terms, Names, & Phrases, which are Terms within a specific field.
However — the Term Jargon is usually used by people OUTSIDE of that particular field to refer to Terms which they do not Comprehend.
OR — it is used by people WITHIN that field who are speaking to those outside that field. And either they do not know how to — or they simply do not want to explain the Terms (because it may not be necessary or beneficial to do-so). So they simply refer to it as Jargon. (usually with the name of the field as the Adjective describing what type of Jargon it is.)
For Example: “You don’t have to be concerned with all that is written here. It is basically Legal Jargon. But what it is saying is that you simply need to…”
